Escarpment Trail South (#15S) was opened yesterday, March 30th, as it’s reasonably well-drained early this year. Use caution, particularly on the ‘stairs’ as there are slippery, moss-covered areas and uneven sections. Use the ropes provided!
Trails #1 through #6 are in VERY GOOD condition and mostly dry with the exception of #3 Brow North (north of Cattle Trail). The remainder of the trails are in GOOD condition with some areas of standing water. We recommend wearing waterproof boots.
Birds are beginning to migrate! Bring your binoculars.
March 30th: Pileated Woodpecker, Cooper’s Hawk, Mourning Doves, Robins, Cardinal pair, American Tree Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Chickadees, Eastern Phoebe, Eastern Bluebird pair, American Crows, Canada Geese pairs, White Breasted Nuthatches, Mallard pairs, Red Winged Blackbirds; deceased spotted salamander and grass snake seen near Escarpment Ponds. Pussy willows are opening.
Free Library is located at entrance of parking lot (across from 504785 Grey Rd 1). Help yourself to a book to read after you’re home from your hike. And, if you have any soft-covered books to donate, they are much appreciated.
PLEASE STAY ON TRAILS to protect the delicate eco-systems that co-exist amongst flora and fauna.
