The following is a list of birds spotted (and verified) on Greystones property in 2018. More photos will be added over time.

Birds are listed by month and in the sequence they were first seen to help study migration paths. Locations have been noted where possible to help guide you in spotting them (be sure to print off a copy of our PDF trail map for easier exploration of Greystone Trails).

  • Downy Woodpecker (female) — February 26 at Conservatory Feeder
  • Black Capped Chickadees (3) — February 26 at Conservatory Feeder
  • Downy Woodpecker (male) — February 28 at Conservatory Feeder
  • Cardinals (male and female pair) — February 28 on Creek Trail near Greystone Bunkie
  • Common Grackle — February 28 Conservatory Trail near Creek Trail

  • Canada Goose (3) — March 1 Greystone Retreat lawn on shore of Georgian Bay
  • Turkey Vulture (5) — March 1 flying over shoreline by Greystone Retreat
  • Gulls (2 … smaller of Herring or Ring-Billed) — March 1 flying over shoreline by Greystone Retreat
  • White Breasted Nuthatch — March 2 at Conservatory Feeder
  • Downy Woodpecker (male) — March 2 at Conservatory Feeder
  • Hairy Woodpecker (male) — March 2 at Conservatory Feeder
  • Crows (2) — March 3 Conservatory Trail near Barn Trail
  • Ruffed Grouse — March 4 intersection of Oak and Outer Loop East Trails
  • Pileated Woodpecker — March 5 overhead near Conservatory
