Burn Ban in Effect – Updated August 9, 2016
The Township of Georgian Bluffs has issued a ban on open air fires within the Township due to the hot, dry conditions in the area.
Hot, dry weather means the risk of fires is high, and caution must be taken. This ban is effective immediately, and will remain in place until further notice.
The ban applies to all open air fires in the Township of Georgian Bluffs, excluding area campgrounds.
The Township of Georgian Bluffs would like to thank you for your cooperation.
We, at GREYSTONE TRAILS, ask you to be extra cautious on the trails. We had quite a scare on August 10th with a large grass fire on “Observatory Trails” that could have easily gotten out of control. As it was, we lost almost 2 full quadrants.
A huge ‘THANK YOU” to the Inter-Township Fire Department and volunteer firefighters who arrived in record time to help us get it under control 🙂
Special thanks to several local residents who helped contain the flames until the Fire Department arrived.
