Black BEAR in area (May)

NOTICE: Black Bear in Greystone Trails area (9km marker) on Grey Road 1.

A bear has been seen on the road, 1-2km south of Centennial Park May 25 around 8:30am; May 29 around 8:15pm; at 12km marker around 10:30pm with several sightings of a bear between 5km marker and Pyette Point near Kemble. Earlier in the month a bear was reported several times about 5kms south.

Bears are out of hibernation and looking for food. They are often spotted on roadsides in the spring eating new vegetation growth. They are opportunists with a keen sense of smell and will get into bird feeders, food scraps and garbage left roadside for pickup. Do not leave garbage out overnight. If you do not have a garbage bin, cover with a blanket to reduce odours.

No sightings or evidence of bears has been reported on Greystone Trails.
